Word Processing on the Cheap –– alternative solutions...
Presenter:
Ron Brunet
When:
Friday, September 8, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
What:
Looking for an alternative to the expensive word processors and office
suites out there?

Instead of paying these prices for Microsoft Office:
Office 2004 Standard Edition: $399.00
Office 2004 Version Upgrade: $239.00
Office 2004 Student and Teacher Edition: $149.00
Office 2004 Professional Edition: $499.00
Why not consider these prices for some alternatives:
NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 3: $0.00
AbiWord 2.4: $0.00

If the price for the latter are appealing, you may want to see Ron demonstrate these two freeware programs at our next meeting. If you think you can only get barebones performance from a free program, wait until you see what these little gems can do. AbiWord is a full-featured, stand-alone word processor, while NeoOffice is a complete office productivity suit rivaling Microsoft Office. The package allows you to create text documents, databases, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings and math formulas.

Dick Crowell
When:
Friday, August 11, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
What:

When Dick Crowell saw the show of hands of people at the last meeting who've used iMovie or iDVD, he was surprised at how few people have tried their hand at movie editing. Dick is excited about inspiring more folks to try iMovie. According to Dick, "....it is SO EASY"!

Using his video camera, a music CD and some raw tape footage, Dick will show us just how easy it is to become a movie producer. He will also show us a couple of short movies he's made so that we can see some finished video projects he's put together.
